I had a sweet reminder from God yesterday. I went in for a colon cleanse -- has anyone ever done that? It’s one of those quirky preventative health things I do. (https://touchlesscoloncleansing.com) Sure takes a load off! Anyway, I ended up having to wait an extra half hour for the person before me to finish up. At first, I was frustrated. After all, they were wasting my precious time! Then, I started scrolling on my phone, trying to fill the emptiness I felt. Then, I heard this in my heart: Just BE with Me. God was there, gently reminding me that the best way to spend those moments of waiting was to turn my attention toward Him and soak in His presence. And so I did. Laid down the ever-distracting phone and spent the time just sitting there with Jesus, thinking of His warm smile, receiving His love, and finding peace in His nearness. (How often do we remember that He's not just an idea or a belief or a figment of our imagination -- He's really right here. He is more real than we are!) So, what do you do when you're just being? It’s so easy to believe we are wasting time when we’re not doing. But He always has purpose for our waiting. Sometimes, it’s the only way He can get our attention in these action-packed lives that we lead. He’s always there whispering, “Come to Me.” The more we become aware of His presence in those in-between moments, the more naturally we will sense Him walking with us throughout the day. Hope you find some of those sweet times of being too.
