I just finished a book I want to share with anyone looking for a breath of fresh air in their connection with Jesus. The author, John Eldredge, a teacher of mine from long ago, is the first person who showed me what it was like to live a real, day-to-day life with Him -- not as a religious idea, but as a life-giving reality. The book is called Beautiful Outlaw, and here's a description. (I listened on Audible):
An exciting look at the real Jesus - wild, playful and provocative - from best-selling author John Eldredge. Jesus is the most vague, misrepresented figure in the history of the world. Is it possible to know and trust someone so ethereal and lofty? What is he really like? Beautiful Outlaw offers a look into the humanity of Jesus, dismantling all the religious nonsense and helping us understand who this man really was - on a personal level. Focusing on his compelling personality, John Eldredge shows us the real Jesus - playful, disruptive, extravagant, and often scandalous.
This book opened my heart to Him in new ways. It is firmly rooted in Scripture, offers a compelling picture of Jesus as both God and man, and challenges us to dig more deeply to consider Who truly He is for us today.
