Dear One,
You don't have to do it all. You don't have to prove yourself to the world. You don't have to return the text, or make the phone call, or answer the questions right now. You don't have to keep up with anyone, or make yourself more attractive, or try harder to make things work. You don't have to make promises or give advice or manage anyone else's feelings. You can step off the endless path of busyness; you can admit that you're tired; you can lay down and surrender for awhile. Remember Jesus' words: "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." (Matt. 25:40) You don't always have to be the one saving the day. Let yourself be the "least of these" now and then. Let someone else be the hands and feet of Jesus for you. Let someone else pull the weight, whatever that looks like. Let people know you need a break. Be kind to your soul and let it breathe instead of trying to forge ahead through the exhaustion. The marathon will always be there. Maybe tomorrow, you can take another step...but for now, just let it go. (Inspired by my son, who was tired of biking, so he just laid down and gave it up :0)
