Yesterday, the most wonderful thing happened. My teenage son was actually trapped in a little room with me for a whole half hour! I’m so used to my kids disappearing into their bedrooms the moment we get home from school -- it was a blessing just to get to hang out. We didn’t even talk much! We just put our phones down and sat in silence; we were waiting for a doctor to come in for a check-up. And that was enough for me. Just to be in my kids’ presence is a joy. They don’t have to say anything or do anything – just be themselves...the living, breathing, marvelous souls that they are. And it occurred to me that this is how our God feels about us. He just wants to be with us. We don’t always have to be talking or praying or apologizing or trying to be more than we are. We can just be, and He loves us just like that. It's a great thing to remember as we go about our busy days. We can pause throughout the day to turn our hearts toward Him, just becoming aware of His presence and offering Him our love. It's a simple way to be reminded of why we're here and Who we belong to -- and to bring joy to these everyday moments we live.
